2015 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2015 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 40,000 times in 2015. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 15 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

Did you say dinner at the Crooked Tree Cafe?

There has been much discussion since we opened the doors about when we might begin to serve dinner. Well, wait no more, dinner is around the corner. That’s right, the Crooked Tree Cafe will begin serving dinner on Friday and Saturday nights beginning August 21 and August 22. The dinner menu is going to include some new great favorites that we have actually been trying out in smaller portions for lunch.

Perhaps you saw last week’s specials which included Pesto Roasted Salmon and Pan Seared Tenderloin Medallions?

Oh yes, those are only a few of our new items that will be offered at dinner. We are so excited to begin offering dinner on Friday and Saturday nights and can’t wait to see you. You have made us the breakfast, lunch and brunch destination in Marietta, and now let’s add dinner on the weekends!

Our hours for dinner will be from 5 PM to 9 PM on Friday and Saturday evenings. Our current breakfast and lunch hours will not change. Please let everyone know and we hope to see you on August 21 for dinner! Also, have a wonderful first week of school and after you drop the kids off, come join us for a nice, quiet breakfast at the Crooked Tree Cafe.

Have you tried the Crooked Tree Cafe’s Porchetta Sandwich?

Come inside the Crooked Tree Cafe and chances are you are going to see our famous Porchetta sandwich on someone’s plate. The house specialty has become a Marietta favorite, and we couldn’t agree more.

Porchetta is an Italian dish which consists of Italian pulled pork and spices. According to Chef Jeff, there are probably 100 ways to create the dish, but he thinks his is definitely one of the best. Chef Jeff combines a spice mixture similar to many recipes. He includes the favorites of rosemary, garlic and lemon, but one main difference in his Porchetta is that his pork is smoked. And instead of anchovies and capers, Chef Jeff mixes his Porchetta with his famous white sauce and hand-made chow-chow! Yes, we are hungry just thinking about it too!

Why not join us today and see what everyone is talking about? We think this picture might make your lunch decision today an easier one!

Remembering Those Who Paid the Ultimate Sacrifice on Memorial Day

Today, we served lunch to many and sent others home with BBQ to go for family outings, but through it all we never forgot what today means to so many. Memorial Day is the day we pay tribute to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. At the Crooked Tree Cafe, we are grateful for these brave men and women who fought for our country and lost their lives in the process. We also remember their families on this special day, and hope they know how appreciative we are for the sacrifice their loved ones gave us. Whether your flew a flag, attended a parade or visited a veterans cemetery, we hope you all stopped to take a moment and say thank you! And from all of us at The Crooked Tree … thank you!
